After graduating from Central Saint Martins, Joseph Li began designing women’s wear in 2007 for the Hong Kong-based label, Shanghai Tang. But it seems Li will soon be leaving the company to begin his own label, which he established just this year. After seeing a few shots from the Fall 2010 collection, I can’t wait to see what Li will do.
His designs show an attention to detail and precision that make a great collection exceptional. Look at the skirt from his recent collection. I love the combination of brown leather and black stitching which come together to make an edgy and unique piece. On his website Li shows his graduate collection from Saint Martins, and the designs show a similar skill at using a combination of treated leather and sticking to make an exceptionally contemporary and eclectic design. So far, Li’s work has been covered mostly in China, but we hope that once his line is fully established we will be seeing more of him.
