I’m loving these alternative interpretations of jewelry created by the new label Autoctona, which means native in Italian. Alessandra, the label’s Italian-born designer who now lives in the US, got her start in design after studying textile design in London and fashion design at the IED Moda Lab at the School of Fashion in Milan. Autoctona creates custom, made-to-order pieces like rings, pendants, bolos and necklaces using hand-dyed rope and cast metal. With an eye on sustainability, each piece in Autoctona’s collection is handmade.
