Review from Paris Fashion Week: Walter van Beirendonck

You can always count on Walter van Beirendonck to push boundaries each season and try something new. That’s part of the reason I always look forward to his collections (hey, I also love Duckie Brown and Viktor & Rolf, not always the most conventional guys).

For Spring 2012 he showed a lot of arm warmers (loved them!) in bright hues, great suits with bow ties, wide legged pants, and some fantastic shredded tees.

There were also a few looks of total whimsy — floral and fluffy pieces that reminded me of the incredible cut-out dresses Viktor & Rolf did last year.

I also found it interesting that the models had color blocked paint on them, similar to the 10A presentation from Pitti that I wrote about earlier this week. Has color blocking moved from the apparel (a la Jil Sander) to a styling technique? If so, I’m in.

Pay a visit to view the entire collection… it is definitely playful but adds a nice levity to Paris Fashion Week.
