A French Fall: Chic Menswear from Ami

Launched just this year by designer Alexandre Mattiusi, French label Ami started off with a F/W ’11 collection that showed luxe basics for when the weather gets cool. There are chunky knit turtlenecks, well tailored overcoats, and a Prince of Wales tweed that definitely caught my eye.

Having worked at Dior, Givenchy, and Marc Jacobs, Mattiusi went out on his own and created a label that stands for “…intelligent, easy, and chic menswear. Noble materials. Simple cuts and right proportions.”

This concept definitely shows in the line, which does not aim for cutting edge Rick Owens-esque innovation, but instead to provide a great way for men to feel comfortable dressing well and feeling good about it.

Having been picked up by Barney’s and Corso Como, and with a pop-up store coming to Paris in September, Ami is a label to watch.
