Dominating Paris, From Milan

Dusan Fall 2011 collection

For Fall, Milanese designer Dušan Paunovic showcased one of the strongest womenswear collections I’ve seen all year. It was also one of the most surprising collections as well, because, if you recall from way back when, the designer’s Spring collection wasn’t fierce like Fall’s.

What the designer has carried over from Spring is his caracteristic sharp tailoring. With this in hand, Dušan crafted a collection in which black—in all of its various sheens, textures and layers—dominites and plays with soft, loose and sometimes masculine silhouettes. The result is sleek and romantic, severe yet soft, and if it weren’t for its Milan label, I’d say the collection is downright Parisian, superbly so.
