Known to the fashion world primarily as a couture bridal atelier, Katya Leonovich opted for a new path for this season’s Fashion Week presentation. Her Fall/Winter 2012 collection featured a variety of sleek lines and constructive separates as well as geometric sheaths in both neutrals and psychadelic prints.
Several of the pieces evoked slight Lara Croft-esque undertones, but Leonovich managed to trim the Tomb Raider vibe down to an edgier finish with well-constructed details and the occasional use of gauze and chiffon. Overall, the collection was on-trend and focused with a clear departure from the designer’s usual flounce and costume.
